Spanish has been the most spoken language this Saturday in Lisboa. The reason has been the Champions League final between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid. Thousands of fans of the two clubs firstly occupied the streets and bars of the Portuguese Capital City, and then they did the same in the Estádio da Luz, where the match was played.
Both Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid fans were confident in their clubs victory: this would be the first Champions League for Atletico and the tenth –“La Décima”- for Real. However, what Atletico didn’t know is that history would repeat again… Simeone’s team was winning during 57 minutes until Real’s Sergio Ramos goal in the extra time. And… Yes, this was the same that happened to Atletico exactly 40 years ago, when in that’s year European Cup Final between them and Bayern Munchen, the German scored the 1-1 in the last minute of match. Bayern finally achieved the title.
After the goal of Ramos, both Atletico Madrid team and fans cracked up. The contrary happened with Real Madrid: they scored three goals in the extended time. Bale, Marcelo and Ronaldo were their authors.
Finally Real Madrid achieved their wished 10th Champions League, which they had been waiting for 12 long years. The King of Cups was unstoppable in the last minutes of the match.
Thrilling clash, glory for Real Madrid and defeat for Atletico Madrid.
