Messi – Ronaldo: the silent battle

Messi – Ronaldo. Ronaldo – Messi. They are the two best players in the world, they play in the best league of the world and both are the leaders of the two best teams of that league –and probably the best of the world too-. Taking all of this into account, rivalry and comparisons are inevitable…

The two players are brilliant, both score a lot of goals and their fans love them. There are records that make evidence that they are the best. Two seasons ago Ronaldo became the first player ever to score 40 goals in La Liga… Something awesome… But Messi scored 50 last year! That would have seemed impossible some years ago. It’s clear that both Ronaldo and Messi are cracks.

In spite of this, there are some people (not few) that say that unless the two players are great, there is one that is better than the other. Maybe you are thinking in Messi… And you are not wrong! ‘La Pulga’ has won three consecutive Ballon d’Or, he is always shining in Barça and he scores almost every match. Ronaldo is also great, but for many people Messi is magical…

Ronaldo – Messi. Messi – Ronaldo. The fight between the two best players. The silent battle. And who is the best for you?

Messi – Ronaldo. Ronaldo – Messi.

Ronaldo – Messi. Messi – Ronaldo. La lucha entre los dos mejores. La batalla silenciosa. ¿Y tú, con cuál te quedarías?

Bye bye Valdés. Hello…?

The first player of Barça that will not renew his deal with the club is Víctor Valdés. Hardly anyone could imagine that it could take place some weeks ago, but the agents of the keeper have confirmed the decision of Valdés to the club. There’s no way back.

The decision of Valdes was firstly a shock and now there are a lot of people that don’t understand why he wants to leave Barça. Why Victor don’t want to renew his deal with Barcelona when the club in on the top? Why has he said it now and not in the end of the season?

Some media say that one of the main reasons Valdes will not continue in Barça is that he doesn’t feel valued there. Moreover, there is who says that he has a bad relationship with Andoni Zubizarreta, Barça’s sport director, and he doesn’t want to stay at the dame club as him.

Now Barça need a new keeper for the next season so the club is already thinking in different players. Some British media have said that it’s possible an exchange between Barcelona and United: Valdes to England and De Gea to Catalonia. It seems that both teams would like this option. Also Barça are keen on Atletico Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois, but maybe this transfer is more difficult to become true.

And you: which do you think is the best keeper for Barça? Give us your opinion!

Adiós, Valdés. Hola… ¿?

Today it’s time to gossip about Andrés Palop, the captain and goalkeeper of one of La Liga’s giant teams, Sevilla FC. Palop is less popular than other keepers, but he has turned Sevilla’s goal into a fort and he automatically became the team’s captain. Today we’ll discover more about him.

-          Firsts steps in football

Andrés Palop was born in L’Alcúdia (Valencia) on the 22nd of October of 1973. Since he was a kid he had good skills as a keeper, and it is what made him join Valencia CF’s young team. He later signed for Villarreal to play in the Spanish Second Division, so he started to play football as a professional.

-          Background in professional football

In his first year in Villarreal, Palop became one of the players that made the team raise the Spanish First Division (La Liga). Due to this Valencia ‘caught’ him again. Palop PLAYED with Valencia for six years and he won 2 leagues officially, 1 UEFA Cup and one European Supercup, but he rarely played with the team: Valencia’s first keeper was Santiago Cañizares.

Palop’s success started when he joined Sevilla FC in season 2005-06. That year the team won the UEFA Cup. The following season Sevilla won the same title again, and Palop was the hero of the final against RCD Espanyol: he stopped 3 penalties! Moreover, the same year Palop scored the goal that gave Sevilla the classification for the quarter finals: he scored with a headed goal after a corner! Sevilla couldn’t have won the UEFA title without him.

Afterwards, Palop won the Supercup of Europe and the Copa del Rey in 2006/07, and another Copa del Rey in 2010 (he dedicated that title to Antonio Puerta, the player of Sevilla that died 3 years before.

Palop played with the Spanish National Team for first time in 2007 (he replaced Casillas, who got suddenly injured). A year after, Palop and La Roja won the Euro Cup!
