Last Sunday the Circuit de Catalunya in Montmeló (Barcelona) held the Gran Premio de España of Formula One. Thousands of both local and international fans saw the race live from the grand stand of Montmeló. It was a very exciting race from the first to the last lap so none of the fans were disappointed.

Every year the Grand Prix of Spain is one of the most liked by fans because it takes place at the beginning of the season and because everyone likes to enjoy the good climate of the Mediterranean Coast. Moreover, the first weeks of this year’s championship have been the most exciting of the last few years, because each race has been won by a different driver, which has made the Spanish GP even more interesting. And this tendency was repeated in Barcelona, because the winner was Pastor Maldonado (Williams), who won the first F1 race of his career.

The second to classify was Fernando Alonso, who was very close to winning after 66 laps fighting for the first place against Maldonado. Alonso has just won once in Spain (2006). The third place was taken by Kimmi Raikkonen.

Maldonado, Alonso and Raikkonen are the drivers who enter this year into the “history” of the Grand Prix of Spain of Formula One in the Circuit de Catalunya. Since the circuit was founded in 1991, the king has been Michael Schumacher, who has won there 6 times. Behind him there is Mikka Hakkinen with 3 victories.

Este domingo el Circuit de Catalunya de Montmeló (Barcelona) ha acogido como cada año el Gran Premio de España de Fórmula 1. Miles y miles de aficionados locales y de todo el mundo se han reunido como siempre en las gradas del circuito para vivir en directo la carrera, una vez más acompañada del magnífico clima mediterráneo, y de muchas sorpresas a nivel deportivo.

El GP de España llega como siempre a principios de temporada pero este año bajo un escenario muy diferente al de otros: las 4 primeras carreras las han ganado 4 pilotos distintos, lo que hizo que la emoción que se vivió este fin de semana en Montmeló sea si todavía cabe mayor. Y para no romper con la norma, el ganador en Barcelona fue un piloto que todavía no había llegado a lo más alto del podio esta temporada, ni nunca: ganó inesperadamente la carrera Pastor Maldonado, de Williams.

Detrás del venezolano quedó Fernando Alonso, que esta vez estuvo muy cerca de imponerse en casa después de 66 vueltas de fuerte lucha con Maldonado. A Alonso se le sigue resistiendo otro año más el triunfo en el Circuit de Catalunya, donde no se impone desde el 2006. Kimi Raikkonen completó el tercer escalón del podio.

Maldonado, Alonso y Raikkonen entran este año en la historia del Gran Premio de España de Fórmula 1 en el Circuit de Catalunya, ya sea por vez primera o después de haberlo hecho en otras ocasiones. Una historia que se escribe desde el año 1991 y que tiene un indudable rey, Michael Schumacher, que se ha llevado el triunfo hasta en 6 ocasiones. Detrás del “Kaiser” está Mikka Hakkinen, con la mitad de victorias conseguidas.

Esta vez Pastor Maldonado ha hecho historia en la pista del Circuit de Montmeló, dónde ha conseguido por primera vez en su carrera una primera plaza. Pero la historia ni mucho menos termina aquí. ¿Qué pasará el año que viene? ¿Y el otro? ¿Y después?
