The Comunitat Valenciana Grand Prix of MotoGP takes place every autumn at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Cheste, Valencia. The race is usually the last to be held in the championship, so fans can enjoy a great race, the World Cup final party and the awards ceremony.
The Cheste circuit is called Circuito Ricardo Tormo, as well as Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana. Ricardo Tormo is one of the most memorable Valencian drivers. ‘Ricardet’, his popular nickname, reached the top in the category of 50cc: he became the world champion twice (in 1978 and 1981). Moreover, he also became the best in Spain in this category, and four times in the category of 125cc.
Despite the accident that Tormo suffered in the last years of his professional career, he was one of the best during that time. Unfortunately, though, he couldn’t overcome leukemia and he died on the 27th of December of 1998.
Ricardet won’t be forgotten by his fans, and this is shown by the fact that they always pay tribute to him when they go to the circuit, which is named after the deceased driver. And they do it in the best possible way, by seeing spectacular live motor races which feature all of the world’s best drivers, just as Tormo liked.
El Circuito de la Comunidad Valenciana Ricardo Tormo is both a symbol and a high quality circuit, in which you always will see exciting races. Have you already bought your tickets? No? Book now your tickets for the Comunitat Valenciana GP of Moto GP!
