Spain GP of Moto GP – Circuito de Jerez

Every spring since 1987 tens of thousands of motorcycle fans gather at the Circuito de Jerez in the Andalusian city of Jerez, in Cadiz, to see live the Grand Prix of Spain of Moto GP.

The Spain GP is one of the most popular races for drivers ,teams and all fans because of the beauty and climate of the place where it is held, Cadiz, the province which is furthest south in Europe, linking the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean.

The Circuito de Jerez is also well-known for its shape: it is more than 4.400 meters long and has 16 turns. The emotion starts in the first lap of the race and doesn’t finish until the last!

In terms of nationalities, the ‘kings’ of the Spain Grand Prix in Jerez are the Spanish drivers, with eight victories, and the Australians and Italians, both countries with seven wins each. The drivers who have won in the Circuito de Jerez most times have been Àlex Crivillé (SPA), Michael Doohan (AUS) and Valentino Rossi (ITA). The current ‘king’ is the Spaniard Jorge Lorenzo, who has won various times in the last years of the race.
