Tonight we will know who has been the world’s best player in 2014. Tonight we will know the new FIFA Ballon d’Or.

The finalists

Cristiano Ronaldo: Current Ballon d’Or and the favourite to achieve it again. The Portuguese Moreover, he brought Real up to win the so-called ‘Décima’ (their 10th Champions League) in front of Atletico, so it seems easy that Ronaldo can win the title.

Lionel Messi: Ballon d’Or winner four times, the Argentinian hasn’t made his best year, but he maintains his talent and skills to score goals. However, it has not been a good year for Leo in terms of titles: zero. At least, he reached the World Cup Final with Argentina. As well as Leo wins or not, he will remain to be the best in the world for a lot of football fans.

Manuel Neuer: This is the first year in which the outstanding Bayern Munchen keeper reaches the Ballon d’Or final. Neuer is above all supported by his achievements: he has won the World Cup with Germany and the Bundesliga title with his club.

This week the Santiago Bernabeu has not seen Cristiano Ronaldo playing, but the stadium has been “dressed” with many faces of the Portuguese player. The club has given out 45,000 cardboards with the visage of Ronaldo to claim that they want him to win the Ballon d’Or.

This wouldn’t be the first year in which Ronaldo would win the Ballon d’Or. The Portuguese Star won the award in 2008. However, Messi has been the heroe in the years after: Lionel has won 4 Ballon d’Or in a row. This has brought Ronaldo to be the second most voted, and all of us know that Ronaldo has been negatively affected by this fact.

This week Real Madrid fans have strongly claimed for Ronaldo. They want him to achieve this years’ FIFA Balon d’Or. But… Does Cristiano deserves this trophy? If we have a look to the statistics of Real Madrid, the Spanish club haven’t won any title, so Cristiano doesn’t have it easy to convince those who vote to vote for him. However, in the last months Ronaldo has been playing so well and scoring many goals, so this can help him to achieve the trophy.

We don’t still know whether Ronaldo will win the Ballon d’Or or not. But, what’s your opinion? Does Ronaldo deserve this award?
