This year’s Europa League speaks Spanish. Three of the four teams which are to play the semifinals also compete in La Liga so at least one of them will reach the final of one of the top football competitions in Europe.
Athletic Bilbao, Valencia and Atletico Madrid are the Spanish representatives in this year’s semifinals. Athletic Bilbao will fight against Sporting Lisboa to reach the final, and Atletico Madrid and Valencia will face each other in the other semifinal.
The first-leg of the semifinals between Atletico Madrid and Valencia will take place on Thursday 19th April at the Vicente Calderon. The two teams know how the other plays football since both are La Liga teams, but their high level and the importance of this match means that everything unpredictable.
The ‘Colchonores’ (Atletico players), led by their boss ‘Cholo’ Simeone, will try to achieve a good match at home and score goals because they know that the second-leg at Mestalla could be very hard one.
On the other hand, Unay Emery’s Valencia will play to their full potential in the Vicente Calderon match in order to play the second-leg at Mestalla in front of their fans without as much pressure. Moreover, Valencia are not playing as well as they would like in La Liga so they will try to succeed in the Champions League.
